A smaller species measuring around 2mm. This species is suitable for much smaller species of dart frog and invertebrate and also has a faster lifestyle than regular fruit flies.
We offer two different ways to buy fruit flies online at Internet Reptile; cultures (which hatch flies over time) and 'flies only' (which are hatched and ready to feed).
Cultures
This is the traditional way to buy fruit flies, each tub contains a mix of fruit fly media in which flies have laid their eggs. Simply keep the culture warm and the flies will hatch over a week or so giving an ongoing supply of fresh fruit flies. Depending on temperatures there may be some live flies at the point of delivery but this is not always the case.
Flies Only
If you need flies in a hurry, this option is just like any other livefood, its simply a tub containing flies which you can use straight away. Note that flies can be quite short lived so they tend to be best when you have an immediate need. Keep a slice of banana in the tub to help them last longer.
Dairy Cow Woodlice (Porcellio laevis) are one of the larger species of isopod commonly used as terrarium custodians or 'clean-up crew' and live and breed well in bio-active set-ups. As adults, they may attain a length of up to 18mm long. Dairy Cow Woodlice are also useful as a livefood for many reptiles and amphibians and have the advantage of a high calcium content due to their calcarious exo-skeleton.
If they are to be used as food, they are best served up in a smooth-sided dish in much the same way as mealworms or calci-worms. To thrive and become established in the terrarium, they need to be in a constantly damp and humid microclimate which normally means that they hide away for much of the time under branches, rocks or within the substrate. They are supplied in tubs as a starter culture of various sizes.5ml of woodlice in each tub.

Firebrats make excellent feeder insects for mantids, spiderlings, and small lizards. They prefer dry, hot environments and are highly active, encouraging natural hunting behaviours. They are harmless to other animals and can be gut-loaded easily prior to feeding.
